Here lies on this page, the ancient story about Theseus and the Minotaur. We will tell you the story of how Theseus
defeated the Minotaur. Let's begin.
This story starts when the king Minos, the king of Crete makes a deal with the Athenians. He had been attacking Athens
and out of desperation, the king of Athens made the deal, which was that if the Athenians didn't send seven girls and seven
boys to be eaten by the Minotaur every nine years, King Minos would continue the attacks.
Nine years past and everyone in Athens was crying. Prince Theseus thought it was wrong to send innocent children to be
eaten by the minotaur, so he asked his father, the king of Athens, if he could be one of the seven boys being sent to Crete.
Prince Theseus was sure he could defeat the Minotaur. When the time came, he got on a ship is and sailed toward Crete
with the other thirteen children. A while after he got to Crete, Prince Theseus got a letter from the king's daughter, Princess
Adriane, seeking to make a deal. She would help him defeat the minotaur if he took her away from Crete. Prince Theseus
agreed, for he knew he could not defeat the Minotaur without the princess' help. Princess Adriane gave Prince Theseus a
long string to tie to the door so he could find his way out and a sword to defeat the Minotaur with.
The next day, the fourteen children, including Prince Theseus, were locked in a labyrinth with the Minotaur. The prince
tied the string to the door and told all of the other children to make sure the string stayed tied while he found his way to the
minotaur. Prince Theseus defeated it and followed the string back to the door. Princess Adriane was waiting to open the
door for them. Theseus, the princess, and the children of Athens started sailing for Athens, but stopped to stock up on
supplies on the island of Naxos where Princess Adriane fell asleep with a bunch of people admiring her beauty. Prince
Theseus and other thirteen children sailed away without her.
